VG: Situation in the valley has been improved, how you handled the situation?
Spl DG CRPF: The situation has witnessed a sea change as recruitment of local youths into militancy was declining along with stone-pelting incidents. Due to our positive action and good behavior, there have a very good impact on the overall situation in the valley which has improved a lot. The situation (in Kashmir) has normalised to a large extent and we are hopeful that complete normalcy will return very soon.
We are moving in the right direction and anything positive that will help normalise the situation will be done. Moreover, we have changed out mode of operations and trying out best so that the locals should be saved from any injury. Our men are getting specialized training at par with the jawans of other belt forces.
VG: What type of the facilities you are providing to your men?
Spl DG CRPF: We are very concerned about the facilities, which are being provided to them to perform well during their duty hours. For upgrading their living standards, we have constructed new barracks for 5201 jawans, while 1832 barracks has been renovated, to provide better sanitation facilities, we have constructed 500 new toilets while 365 toilets has been renovated. For providing better accommodation to the jawans and their families, special huts, which are suitable as per the environments has been constructed, food warmers has been provided to them, so that they can have warm food while when they are performing their duties.
Whereas the recreation facilities are concerned, we had provided them Television facility, in addition to this they are provided free internet facilities, so that they can remain connected with their families and the world during their leisure time and can interact with the loved ones they need.
VG: What difference you feel while serving in the CPRF and Delhi police?
Spl DG CRPF: Delhi police is a city police and unified police force, where as the CRPF is a vastly expanded forces, which is providing its services in the entire nation and there are 61 Bn deployed in J&K in which thousands of jawans has been serving at the various posts, in addition to these jawans, there are several officers, who are providing their services at various top posts at group centres and specialized units.
VG: CRPF is now upgraded and is carrying out as ROP, what are the special facilities for its men?
Spl DG CRPF: ROP is a tough exercise and to provide better facilities, we have appointed a team of doctors, who advises the jawans to get food, which is suitable for them as per the environment as well as their requirement, in which they are performing their duties.
They are provided food in hot cases, as sometimes they have to perform duties in harsh weather conditions. For better interaction with my men, I have provided them my whatsapp number, at which they can send me their grievances, which I try my best to sort out earliest. Moreover, if any they can meet me directly and register their grievances if any.
