A society cannot grow until every individual is empowered to realize their full potential, there is need to ensure inclusive growth of differently-abled members of our society.
This was stated by the Speaker Legislative Assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar Kavinder Gupta, during his exclusive interaction with the Young Bites.

VG: While the government has launched many schemes but none for the differently-abled members?
KG: The government is focused on empowering all citizens and creating an inclusive environment for differently able people so that they can work normally in the society and live a dignified life with respect and honor. The aim of the government is to help these people grow into self reliant, independent individuals.
To help them, government has made provisions to provide loan facilities so that they can work and open their own venture and earn their livelihood.
He said that multiple schemes have been launched by central and state government to empower them besides measures are also being undertaken to make access to public infrastructure friendly for differently-abled people by constructing ramps in Government offices, educational benefits, review of reservation rules besides availability of motorized cycles.
VG: PMUY, a scheme launched for BPL families, what is the main objective of this scheme?
KG: Pradhan Mantri Ujjwal Yojana (PMUY) is a very good scheme launched for the BPL beneficiaries by providing them free LPG connections.
The objectives of PMUY are to safeguard the health of women and children by replacing the unclean cooking fuels. Further, to ensure women’s empowerment, the connections are issued in the name of women of the households, he added. I have issued instructions to concerned authorities to ensure that the benefit of the scheme reaches to the deserving people at the grassroots level and also have directed the concerned officials to identify more BPL families and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out. I wanted to ask the exhorted eligible women candidates from BPL families to apply for the scheme to reap the benefits.
VG: As being the MLA, many development works started by you, what is the progress?
KG: Many development works with the help of PWD (R&B), JMC, PDD and PHE have been expedited with number of new projects coming up in the constituency for the benefit of the people.To complete ongoing projects, tenders worth Rs 11 Cr have been floated for the left over roads of Gandhi Nagar by the PWD (R&B) Department and the work for the same will be executed by the end of current year. Coordinated efforts are being made for making Gandhi Nagar a model constituency and special stress has been laid on traffic decongestion and development of green spaces. The time to time monitoring and meetings with the line departments are held to ensure timely completion of development works. I have directed the officers to get the works in hand completed within stipulated time and strictly ensure the quality.
