VG: Annual Shri Amarnath Yatra is round the corner, how the police is prepared for its smooth conduct?
RH: This is true that the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra is round the corner, and in this regard we have convened a meeting with army, paramilitary forces, intelligence agencies and Jammu-based police officers to review the security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
To ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the 58-day-long Yatra, which starts from June 28 is our main motive.
All the officers have been directed to be on high alert and work with synergy. They have also been asked to share intelligence on real time basis so that the nefarious designs of anti-national elements can be thwarted.
WE have also stressed upon the officers to organize night patrolling on the highway regularly and to maintain close cooperation with all forces deployed in their areas.
VG: ‘People friendly’ is a good initiative taken by the police, how will you fulfill this commitment?
RH: To make the police ‘people friendly’ is our commitment and we are trying our best to make is more friendly with the people everywhere. We need to make the style of working some more transparent, so that more and more people should be involved in our work and they must feel their self that we are working for the society to make it crime free.
We are public servants and by making our police people friendly, we have to fulfill our commitment and has to come up to the expectations of the people.
VG: Model police stations were a project, started by the police, what is the progress of that project?
RH: Yes, it is true that the concept to develop some model police stations were adopted by the police, and we had done a good progress in this regard. We are not only working over to develop some model police stations, but now are trying to make every police station a model one and our main thrust is to provide every new facility at every police station. To make our police more efficient, it is very important to provide new technology in our police stations, so that the issues of public should be resolved earliest.
VG: What is your message for the people?
RH: I want to assure the pilgrims as well as the tourists, that they are fully safe here and they can enjoy the natural beauty of Jammu and Kashmir freely without any fear.
