Sikandar Raza thanks Ricky Ponting for ‘little push

Perth, Oct 28 Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza said that he was highly motivated after seeing a clip, featuring Ricky Ponting, prior to the match against Babar Azam's Pakistan on Thursday, October 27 at the Perth Stadium. Raza became the Player of the Match after Zimbabwe secured a one-run win over the Men in Green in the T20 World Cup Super 12 match. Raza said that the video pushed him to perform well and he was filled with goosebumps on seeing Ponting speak. "I know there was a small clip that was sent to me this morning and it was Ricky Ponting having a small word. I was excited. I was nervous. I was thrilled about today. Motivation was always there, but if I needed that little push, I thought that clip did a wonder this morning. So thank you very much to Ricky as well," Raza was quoted as saying to the broadcasters. "..some of my friends and family members messaged and they said they had a kind of tear in the eye. For me, I had goosebumps, one of the greats of this game talking about Zimbabwe and in particular me," he stated. "Not that I needed an extra kick, but if I needed that, that clip did the job for me. I wanted to stay calm, but at the same time be pumped up for this game," Raza added.Raza played an important role in the World Cup for his team.
