Jaipur, July 18 A demand for a ban on Popular Front of India (PFI) led to a showdown between the Rajasthan government and Opposition BJP on Monday. Inside the Rajasthan Assembly, when voting to elect India's next President was underway, Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said that the Centre should not indulge in drama over the extremist outfit PFI. "The Modi government is so powerful. If PFI is actually wrong, it should ban it. Why is it not banning PFI? Modi government should not indulge in drama over PFI," he said. Responding to the remarks, BJP MLA Ramlal Sharma said, "Several state governments have imposed a ban on PFI. We demand Rajasthan government to ban PFI." On July 14, Bihar Police had claimed to have busted a potential terror module indulging in anti-India activities by arresting two people, including a retired Jharkhand police officer, with alleged links to extremist outfit PFI.
