CBI arrests 8 for impersonating real candidates during NEET exams

New Delhi, July 18 The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday busted a racket involved in manipulating the National Eligibility Entrance Test Undergraduate exam (NEET UG) which was held on July 17, officials said. The agency also arrested eight people, including the alleged mastermind and paper solvers, who were allegedly impersonating real candidates to help them in the NEET examination for undergraduate medical courses. The agency received inputs that several people had entered into a criminal conspiracy to arrange solvers to impersonate real candidates in the NEET exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) at several centres in Delhi and Haryana on Sunday, the FIR alleged. “The impersonators will appear in the NEET UG Exam, 2022 in place of the actual candidates and give exam in lieu of huge money. Information further revealed that the user IDs and passwords of the candidates appear ing for the examination have been collected by the above-mentioned suspect persons and their associates and necessary modifications have been made for getting desired examination centres as planned by them,” the CBI FIR read. The officials also learnt that the suspects used the process of mixing or morphing photographs to facilitate use of proxy candidates for appearing in the examination. The agency has filed an FIR against Sushil Ranjan, Brij Mohan Singh.
