Army organizes Cricket Tournament

YB News Rajouri,May 19 Sports are an important means to keep one physically fit, while at the same time fosters team spirit and sportsmanship. Towards this end, Indian Army organised a Cricket Tournament at Government Degree College, Thanamandi in District Rajouri (J&K). Cricket being a popular sport, the tournament provided a means to the 16 teams from Thanamandi Tehsil to showcase their talent and skill. While all teams put in their best performance during the tournament, the final held on 18 May 22, was played between Khan Cricket Club, Azamatabad and Sports Club, Thanamandi. In a keenly contested match, Sports Club, Thanamandi came out as the winner. The response and participation displayed by the youth and the spectators reflected the popularity of the sport and the camaraderie shared by the people of the region. During the prize distribution ceremony at the end of the tournament, the winning and runner-up teams were awarded with trophies, medals and certificates. The Awaam population appreciated the Indian Army for conducting the tournament.
