South Africa vs India: Ishant Sharma could come in handy for India in 3rd Test, says Deep Dasgupta

New Delhi, Jan 9 Former India wicketkeeper batter Deep Dasgupta has doubts whether India's Test captain Virat Kohli has the same faith that he had in Ishant Sharma until 2019 but backs the senior bowler to edge Umesh Yadav and find a spot in the playing XI for the 3rd Test against South Africa, starting January 11 at the Newlands in Cape Town. India are likely to be without Mohammed Siraj for the 3rd Test as the in-form pacer suffered a hamstring injury during the 2nd Test. Siraj continued to bowl for India in Johannesburg but was not able to operate at full-tilt. India have not played either or Ishant Sharma or Umesh Yadav yet but the team management will be looking to rope in one of the two senior pacers to join JaspriBumrah and Mohammed Shami for the series decider. Speaking to the Press Trust of India, Deep Dasgupta pointed out that India lacked a bowler like Ishant Sharma who can provide control to the captain on pace-rich pitches like the ones in South Africa during the 2nd Test in Johannesburg. Notably, India.
