Training prog for dairy farmers concluded at SKUAST-Jammu

Jammu, Nov 23 A two days training programme was conducted on “improvement of animal health and production by scientific interventions” for dairy farmers at Faculty of Veterinary Science, SKUASTJammu, R.S. Pura. The training was conducted by DrNeelesh Sharma, Senior Assistant Professor, Division of Veterinary Medicine under the Department of Biotechnology, GoI, New Delhi project. Training was focused on the various aspects of animal health and animals feeding and nutrition. The program was concluded by Dr. M.S. Bhadwal, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, SKUAST-Jammu and he interacted with all the participants and took the feedback of farmers about the two days training program. Dr. Bhadwal highlighted the importance of feeding in cost effective dairy farming and also emphasized on the use of sexed semen for more profitable dairy farming. Dr. AK Pathak, Expert of Animal Nutrition explained in details about animal feeding and nutrition for dairy animals to reduce their cost of input in beneficial dairy business. DrPathak provided the detailed feed formulations using locally available plant ingredients for enhancing milk production and better animal health. He demonstrated the simple techniques of complete feed blocks for balanced ration of the animals.
