New Delhi, Nov 23 Aclear-headed approach was missing in matters of national security before 2014, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, fronting the BJP’s attack on the Congress over Manish Tewari's book. “Decisions after 2014 have been taken with a clear-headed approach. Whether Balakot or surgical strikes. We all saw how India responded. This response was absent prior to 2014,” Nirmala Sitharaman said at an event in Jammu & Kashmir. In his book, Manish Tewari has said India should have acted against Pakistan after 26/11, when his party was in power. BJP leaders have slammed the Congress over the party-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government's response to the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. They cited an excerpt from Tewari's latest book, titled '10 Flash Points; 20 Years - National Security Situations that impacted India’ in which he has said “restraint is not a sign of strength”. Nirmala Sitharaman also reacted to Mani Shankar Aiyar and said, “Doesn't he understand we need to protect our nation? The Defence Ministry in UPA time was in hibernation.” Congress MP Manish Tewari has hit back at the BJP for targeting his party over the 26/11 excerpt from his new book. “I am rather amused at @BJP4India reaction to one excerpt from a 304 Page book that tries to dissect responses to National Security Situations that Impacted India.
