JU issues notification for introduction of NCC as general elective credit course

YB News Jammu, Nov 22 University of Jammu, recognizing the importance of NCC in shaping the youth of the country has issued a notification to incorporate NCC as a ‘’General Elective Credit Course’’ under the Choice Based Credit System, in line with NEP 2020 from the upcoming academic session 2021- 2022 of the University, with the objective of harnessing the full potential of NCC’s capacity in youth development. NCC as a Credit Course is designed with an intent to transform NCC training into a curricular activity from extra – curricular activity, thereby providing academic credits to students undergoing NCC training. Syllabus of NCC adopted by University of Jammu for Senior Division/ Wing will be covered in 300 lectures over three year duration plus two camps of 10 days each for becoming eligible to appear in the NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate examinations. The NCC cadets will definitively take advantage of this opportunity for better career prospects. The present initiative is the outcome of series of meetings held between Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu and Maj Gen Ranjan Mahajan, ADG NCC Directorate JK&L and other committee members on the subject.Maj Gen Ranjan Mahajan, ADG has expressed his gratitude to the VC of University of Jammu on issue of said notification.
