Karur student dies by suicide, police inspector suspended

Chennai, Nov 22 A17-year-old girl died by suicide on Friday night, leaving a suicide note in her diary which referred to alleged sexual harassment. In the suicide note, it was also mentioned that she should be the last victim of sexual abuse and that she was afraid to reveal the identity of those involved. Police inspector Kannadasan has been suspended in connection with the Karur student suicide case. The student, who was also attending NEET coaching, returned from school at around 5.30 pm on Friday and was found hanging from a fan hook that night. The student's mother alleged the school's involvement and stated that she was forced to cremate her child in a hurried manner. "Four people went to file a complaint with the police, three were attacked by the police. We went at 10.30 pm in the night and were made to sit until 5.30 am. We got the body by 10.30 am,” said the victim’s mother. “My daughter studied well but was unhappy to attend Chemistry classes and used to say that she did not want to attend the class. I also saw her Chemistry book torn,” the mother added. Congress MP Jothimani also visited the family to express her condolences. She stated that the police had mistreated the family.
