Er Abha Gupta/Pooja Thakur Jammu, Nov 8 Q: What you have to say on rising Covid cases in J&K? A: If we go by the data we can see that in past few months there has been a surge in Covid cases in J&K. In Kashmir the cases are on rise because as per reports due to marriages there there was a rise in cases of coronavirus in Srinagar specially. If we talk about Jammu then till date we have 26 cases. In Jammu also we have seen that there are many families who are positive because they have participated in some kind of social event. Q: How challenging is it for the health department to tackle the situation? A: Right from March 2020 till date the health department is totally dedicated towards handling the coronavirus crisis. Total sampling has crossed 24,70,000 till date which includes sampling from railway stations, airports, urban sampling. Q: In the past time people were not willing to give their samples for Covid test what is the current situation? A: People are quite aware these days but the phobia of coronavirus is quite less as compared to when it was after second wave. It is a very good thing that we have done hundred percent vaccination of first dose for 18+ age group. And the second dose vaccination has reached 55% mark. I request all the people who have taken the first dose and have crossed 84 days after taking the first dose to kindly get them vaccinated with the second dose. The people who are doubly vaccinated should not think that they won’t be infected, precautions are a must for all. The people who have the symptoms like fever cough cold should immediately get them tested. The people who travel by public transport or who are going in social gatherings should wear mask. My message to the people at large is to follow COVID appropriate behaviour, wear mask, sanitise your hands and those who have not vaccinated should get vaccinated.
