New Delhi, June 15 India women’s Test and ODI skipper Mithali Raj on Sunday said that the team was training in the whites to get the feel of Test cricket. It was instructed by coach Ramesh Powar. “We trained together in whites just to get the feel of Test cricket. He got the seniors to speak to the lesser experienced players. When you have communication going, the team collectively prepares for Test,” Mithali Raj told reporters in a virtual press conference. India will face England in a one-off Test match, starting from Wednesday in Bristol. Mithali Raj, who is playing for India for almost 19 years, has just played 10 Test matches in her career. On her skills in Test cricket, the 38-year-old said: “I have played lesser Test games than ODI or T20. But the preparations have been very similar. And talking to other players about Test have also helped me a lot.” When asked about playing the multi-format series against England, Mithali said: “Ask any player, they all want to play Test matches. We hope to see more bilateral series with all three formats in the future, and hopefully, one day we will have a Women’s Test Championship.” Mithali also said that the team has not decided the playing XI, and the final decision will be made on the morning of the match. “We have a second session later in the day. We will decide the XI for tomorrow after that,” she said. If India beats England, they will achieve the world record for most successive Test victories.
