New Delhi, Apr 14 The Indian Premier League is back and so are Ricky Ponting's much-followed dressing room speeches. After Delhi Capitals' season-opening win over Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021, the franchise have shared a glimpse of Ponting addressing the winning team. The former Australia captain and the head coach of the Delhi Capitals lauded Rishabh Pant on his winning start to IPL captaincy career. Notably, Pant, who was appointed as the skipper of the last year's losing finalists, won the first match-up against his mentor and idol MS Dhoni's side in Mumbai. Ricky Ponting had a special chat with Prithvi Shaw who set up the win for Delhi Capitals in their chase of 189 at the Wankhede Stadium. Shaw took the attack to CSK's new-ball bowlers, hitting 72 from just 38 balls as he stiched a 138-run opening stand with Shikhar Dhawan. Prithvi looked in complete control, hitting 3 sixes and 9 boundaries before getting out to Dwayne Bravo. Ponting, speaking to Prithvi in the video shared by the Capitals, stressed the importance of having a clear mind when batting in high-pressure situations. Notably, Shaw did not have a good IPL with the Capitals in 2020 as he managed just 228 runs at an average of less than 20 in 13 matches. "Have you played better than that in the IPL ever?" Ponting asked Prithvi to which the young opener replied in the negative. "What were you thinking about when batting?" Ponting asked him. Shaw said: "nothing". Ponting went on to elaborate: "Prithvi, it was awesome and you have got so much to learn from that one innings. You can go into the next game thinking about nothing, you will get runs again. So, you got plenty to learn from.
