Punjab Kings CEO on IPL bio-bubble security: Full marks to BCCI for way they have gone about it

New Delhi, Apr 7 Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon has not minced words and fully credited the BCCI for arranging the bio bubble during the precarious pandemic times. The BCCI were able to host a full-fledged IPL in the UAE last year and despite the cases that have been arising, there is positivity in the air about the 14th edition being held without further hiccups. “Is there anxiety? Yes, there is anxiety. As human beings, we are all worried about where this (pandemic) is headed. Anxiety also comes from the fact that we are restricted to a hotel room with no access to the outside world. But when it comes to the question “whether the bio-bubble is secure and sanitised?”, I completely say that there is no doubt about the fact that the way BCCI has gone about it. Full marks to them,” Satish Menon said on Sports Today. “Kudos to whoever is handling this. Just as well as they did in Dubai, they have done a great job in Mumbai. We actually took the cue from where they said ‘choose a hotel with facilities that will be able to accommodate a bio-bubble’. We chose a slightly smaller hotel. We thought it through. We requested them to give MCA because the hotel is nearby. MCA is about 1000 meters from this. They gave us the majority of our games (practice) at MCA. This hotel we live in has only one lift from behind. The front office is all not accessible to us. We took a floor which has a swimming pool and gym. So there is no way anyone else has access,” he added. Speaking of anxiety in the camp amid the pandemic, Satish Menon said it’s only natural and while the bio bubble life is not easy, the players have shown utmost courage. “Add to that, the BCCI has actually placed 6 people within our bubble. There is always a watch-andwatch staff overlooking your stuff, which I think is very good because we are all humans and sometimes, we tend to lose it but it hasn’t happened so far. We’re very happy and the boys.
