Mayor & his team inspects ongoing development works

Y B News Jammu, Feb 24 Continuing his drive to provide more development and civic amenities to the people of Jammu city, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor alongwith Yash Pal Sharma, Chairman of Swacch Bharat Standing Committee, JMC today conducted an extensive tour of Municipal land at Bandhu Rakh area and inspected the ongoing various development works being undertaken by JMC under “Swacch Bharat Mission Scheme” at Municipal Land Bandhu Rakh in terms construction of suitable shed, construction of chain linked fencing of the land to control any type of further encroachments by encroachers as well as construction of deep drain towards nallah for smooth flowing of dirty water emitted from the plant and other allied works. Rajesh Kumar, Executive Engineer, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Assistant Executive Engineer, S. Manjot Singh, Junior Engineer of Division-IV, Sanjeev Arora CEO of UNDP its associate partner alongwith other representatives as well As supervisory staff of concerned Engineering wing were also accompanied the Mayor during the tour. Mayor was apprised that a well organized material recovery facility is fully functional by constructing a large shed by the Associate Partner of UNDP where all the plastic materials collected from different wards especially of Pulpur area are being segregated properly for its further recycling/disposal in a planned manner. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor told that an amount of Rs 19 lakh has been sanctioned for the construction of shed which will have about 28 number of composting units for collection & segregation of organic wastes brought here from various wards of the city in the authorized vehicles by the JMC for further preparing manual for its sale in the market and to different agencies. He also inspected all the ongoing development works at the site for which an amount of Rs 36 lacs has already been released by the Department and direct strictly to the concerned Engineering wing to expedite it by applying best quality material within the stipulated time period and also appeal to the general public to come forward & cooperate with JMC in all the development works, adopt the habit of segregation of dry/wet waste at their own level also, cooperate fully in door to door garbage collection scheme by paying requisite user charges after receiving proper Govt. receipts, so that the aim of “Swacch Bharat Mission” can be achieved successfully.
