Rich tributes paid to Sheikh Nazir on his 6th death anniversary

Y B News Jammu, Feb 24 Rich tributes were paid to former National Conference General Secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his 6th death anniversary with senior leaders including Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal leading the remembrances. "Nazir Sahib will always inspire the National Conference cadre for his simplicity, honesty, selfless service, organizational capabilities and political acumen”, Additional General Secretary Dr Kamal said while paying his homage to the late leader at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning, adding that he stood by his cherished principles till last without opting any position of power. Dr Kamal said that Sheikh Nazir was one of the rare and front raking leaders across the country, who lived a very simple life and served the people most. “He was a pillar of the organization, who remained connected with the cadre at grass roots level”, the Additional General Secretary said and dwelt upon various facets of his illustrious political odyssey, adding that Nazir Sahib was meticulous and perfectionist in his approach. In his homage, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal described Sheikh Nazir a pioneering leader who stood for high values in politics and public life. He said the former General Secretary worked tirelessly for betterment of the people, especially poor, and strengthened the party at grass roots level. Dr Kamaal said Nazir Sahib shaped the destiny of National Conference as a strong mass movement that strived for dignity and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of caste, creed or religion. "Nazir Sahib has left an indelible mark of selfless service which will continue to guide and inspire the younger generations and influence their political journey”, he added. Paying homage to Nazir Sahib, Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed recalled the great contribution of the late leader in strengthening National Conference and making it a vibrant force. He said that service to the people remained focal point of his life. He said the late leader remained steadfast in his commitment to the party and worked for ameliorating the lot of the people. Sheikh Bashir said that Sheikh Nazir Sahib worked tirelessly for uplifting the people belonging to down-trodden sections of the society. “His inspirational leadership made the party functionaries at the grass roots level to work for overall good of the people and help the people in distress”, he added. “The best tribute to the late leader would be to strive for steering the state to peace and progress besides empowering the people at grass roots level”, he maintained. Earlier, floral tributes were paid to Sheikh Nazir Ahmed and Qur'an Khani was also held for eternal peace to the departed soul. Quran Khani was performed in the Sher I Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu which was organized G.H Malik Provincial Joint Secretary Halwa and other items were served to the participants. Those present on the occasion include Abdul Gani Malik, Farooq Mughal, Abdul Gani Teli, Vijay Lochan, Gh. Rasool Malit, Madam Hassena.Ghulam Ali Chassana, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Kouser Malik, Zia Malik and others.
