Protesting farmers distribute prasad among police on Guru Nanak Jayanti

New Delhi, Nov 30 As the farmers’ protest entered the fifth day and the thousands of farmers from Punjab continue to be restricted on the borders of Delhi, they took to observing the 551st birth anniversary of Guru Nanak on Monday in which they distributed ‘prasad’ among the security personnel. In visuals available from the Delhi-Haryana border in Tikri, Sikh farmers were seen preparing food and prasad on Guru Nanak Jayanti, which they distributed among themselves and the security personnel guarding the border. Meanwhile, the Delhi Chalo protest march being led by thousands of farmers from Punjab and other regions has entered the fifth day with the protesters threatening to gherao Delhi from five entry points. The agitating farmers have rejected Centre’s proposal to hold talks once they move to the Burari ground, the farmers said they will not accept any conditional dialogue and have called a meeting to discuss their next course of action later in the day. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had appealed to the farmers to shift to the Burari ground and had said the Centre was ready to hold discussions with them as soon as they move to the designated place. A meeting of over 30 farmer groups was held to discuss Shah’s offer for talks before the scheduled date of December 3 once they move to Burari in the city, but the thousands of protesters had refused to budge and spent another night in the cold at the Singhu and Tikri border points. Some of the farmers, who had reached Nirankarai Samagam Ground in Burari on Saturday, continued their protest at the designated protest site.
