Cong MLA dies from post-Covid complications at medical facility

Bhopa, Sep 15 Congress MLA from Biaora segment in Rajgarh district, Govardhan Dangi, passed away at a private medical facility in Gurugram on Tuesday. He had been diagnosed with Covid-19 in August but had been found negative in the latest test conducted on September 8. Dangi, 62, is the first lawmaker in Madhya Pradesh who succumbed due to complications after Covid infection. = A total of 10 ministers and 18 MLAs have tested covid positive in the state till date. Govardhan Dangi, was a first-time MLA and was a loyalist of former CM Digvijaya Singh. Dangi, whose assembly segment borders Raghogarh, an assembly seat once held by Digvijaya Singh, had walked for 6 months in Digvijaya Singh’s Narmada Parikrama — a circumambulation of the river on foot from source to mouth in 2018. Dangi had been given the Congress ticket from Biaora in 2018 and had defeated the BJP’s Narayan Singh Pawar. Dangi was found Covid-19 positive after which he was admitted at the Chirayu Hospital — a dedicated covid facility in the state capital Bhopal. From Chirayu, Dangi was shifted to a private medical facility in Gurugram after his condition did not improve.
