Ward No 24 residents rue dilapidated condition of nallah

The residents of Ward No-24 of Jammu Municipal Corporation, Rehari Colony, Jammu are facing drainage and sanitation problem in their Ward due to the dilapidated condition of nallah that passes through their ward. The resident further rued that in the absence culvert over nallah they are facing many hardships as the children and elders cannot pass over it. The condition of streets, lanes and drains are too adding more woes to their miseries. The locals said that that during rains the streets get flooded and the water logged becomes a breeding center for mosquitoes which may spread an epidemic like malaria and dengue. The flooded water from nallah, enters their houses which cause damages to their property. The locals rued that despite repeated request and reminders there seems none to pay heed to their just and genuine demand. While talking to the Young Bites correspondent, Thirth Ram, Deepika Mahajan, Purnima Mahajan, Poonam Gujral, said that from last one year JMC has not taken any step to mitigate their problem. They said that the culvert constructed years ago has been badly damaged and there is every chance of an accident when the elderly people and children cross it. When contacted the Corporator of the Ward, Anu Bali said that I am committed to fulfill promises made to the public and to work for their welfare. She said that all the legal formalities for the construction and repair of nallah and culvert stands completed and a detailed project report has been submitted for release of funds but due to the transition of State to Union Territory there was an in ordinate delay in release of funds. She said that as soon as the funds will be released the work on nallah and culvert would be executed.
