A Junior Assistant working with Chief Animal Husbandry Officer in Rajouri has complained and told that she was molested by D.B Singh Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Rajouri, adding to a grim litany of sexual attacks on women in the Government Office.
The complainant is a resident of village Dhangri, Tehsil Rajouri and has been working with Chief Animal Husbandry Officer in Rajouri since very long time.
SSP Rajouri said that matter is under investigation and strict action will be taken if any allegation comes true. While higher official of department denied to comment and had not responded to the allegations.
In the complaint, a copy of which is available with Young Bites, she told the Principal Secretary Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department that since the time she joined, D.B Singh Chief Officer in Rajouri, in one way or the other, he is sexually harassing me in parts but in progressive ways. “Initially he used to sit along my official working chair under the pretend of dictation and performed activities which were socially and morally disapproved. He also used vulgar obscene, filthy language rather unethical communication under the cover of proximity and during official dictation work, which was having no link with the day to day official work.
In the complaint letter, she has also alleged that time and again he was found demanding my personal “call record” unofficially with unhealthy intention.
"He banned me for several times to visit to other rooms within the same organization/building for which, like rest of the employees, it becomes sometime mandatory for official guidance, expert opinion and doubt clarification," she has alleged.
According to the police, they have registered complaint in the case but they will verify the charges before making any arrests. "We are investigating the matter," said an officer.
Young Bites also tried to contact the higher officials of Department. The person who picked up the phone said: "we don’t about this so we cannot say anything in this regard."
According to a poll of global experts released in June, India is the world's most dangerous country for women due to the high risk of sexual violence and being forced into slave labour. At least 20 million women have left the workforce of Asia's third-largest economy since 2005, World Bank data shows, partly due to poor treatment and harassment. Only 27 per cent now work. Activists say the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act that came into force in 2013 is not stringent enough.
