Unfair trade practices in drug sale need to desist

Indulging in unscrupulous trade practices and to advance storage conditions to preserve the properties of drugs throughout their shelf life have become a common practice to carry out, as there is done unfair trade practices, misuse of habit forming drugs and running of unauthorized drug sale establishments.
However, Drugs & Food Control Organization has botched to completely eradicate this menace which is prone to general public’s life risk.
Notably, the D&FCO must constitute teams of the officers from Drugs & Food Control Organization which can carry out surprise checks of retail / whole sale outlets of
medicines. So that stringent action could be taken against the violators of the law. Whereas, unfair trade practices, running of unauthorized drug sale establishments and misuse of habit forming drugs are violations which are carrying out in the outskirt and downtown of winter capital.
However, there are various drug establishments which are carried out in areas like, Jammu, Kathua, Samba, in rural areas of Hatli Morh, Chadwal, Hiranagar, Bari Brahmana, Vijaypur, Swankha and Nandpur, where the unfair trade practice is continued.
Some firms are breaching the various provisions of Drugs & Cosmetics Act,1940 & rules, these firms should immediately be disallowed in operation and their licenses should be suspended.
Pertinently the check should also be carried out in other districts, to ensure adoption of ‘Good Trade Practices’ by the trade fraternity in the larger interest of patients.
However, the drug samples from these drug establishments should regularly send to State Drug Testing Laboratories to check the identity, strength and purity of these drugs.
