National Conference and Congress members boycotted the proceedings of the Legislative Council on the second consecutive day today to protest against the eviction of senior NC member Sajad Ahmad Kichloo from the upper house.
All the opposition members staged a dharna outside the legislative assembly complex and demanded an apology from Chairman Haji Inyat Ali for ordering marshalling out of the senior member.
Amid intense sloganeering, the opposition parties demanded an apology and constitution of house committee on power projects.
On Monday, Kichloo was forcibly evicted by marshals after he protested over delay in completion of hydro power projects in Kishtwar district and demanded a House committee to look into the reasons of delay.
He further alleged that due to the negligence of the state government, no technical team was send to to look into the power projects, due to which several projects has been close down and more are on the verge to get close down. Congress members Naresh Gupta and Ghulam Nabi Monga, joined by a few other opposition members, had rushed to the well and vainly tried to stop the marshals from evicting Kichloo.
The NC and Congress members then staged a walkout, saying the opposition voice was being suppressed and there is no need to stay here.
