Adequate arrangements & proper safety guidelines for Diwali a desideratum

In a bid to prevent mishaps and ensure a safe Diwali during the festival on October 19, Jammu and Kashmir police should issue some guidelines asking all District police chiefs to make adequate arrangements for the festival of lights. Particularly, all the SPs requisitely ought to make adequate arrangement to ensure a hassle-free celebration of Diwali in the state.
However, it is for the Government and District police to ensure fire safety measures and emergency arrangements in the health centres in their respective jurisdiction area. While the guidelines need to follow a series of do’s and don’ts to ensure mishap-free celebrations during the lighting of lamps and bursting of crackers. Notably, adequate arrangements should be made for security, maintenance of law and order, traffic regulation, installation of cracker stalls, drinking water and power supply, sanitation, Medicare, checking of quality and price of eatables and deployment of fire tenders.
Pertinently special emphasis by the administration should be laid on quality and regulation of rates of eatables, adequate supply of Kerosene Oil and ration to far off places, regulation of traffic, adequate stock of life saving drugs at Hospitals and PHCs, sufficient strength of Doctors and Para-Medic staff and deployment of ambulances during the festival days.
Crackers and fireworks must be sold at the licensed shop. It should be strictly asked not to use crackers that produce sound above 65 decibels.
However, motivating people to associate the celebration of Diwali festival with cleanliness and sanitation campaign as this festival has special significance in people’s lives. Whereas, everyone should be encouraged for this cause to make cleanliness and sanitation a regular part of their life. While other stakeholders of the society have to be involved in this drive until the desired target is achieved.
