Amidst the continuing tension with Pakistan and recent incidents of communal tensions in some states, the Centre has asked all states to be extra vigilant against attempts by terrorists and subversive elements to disrupt peace and ignite communal tension during the festival season.
As per the details available, the Home Ministry has issued a country-wide advisory asking all states to deploy additional forces in crowded places like markets, railway stations, bus terminuses and religious sites to foil attempts by terrorists to carry out attacks.
“The advisory was issued after intelligence inputs suggested that Pakistan-based terrorist groups may try to disrupt peace in vulnerable areas with the help of terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC),” informed a top cop of the J&K Police to the Young Bites.
“The Home Ministry has particularly asked the police heads of major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and the militancy infested J&K to be extra vigilant during the festive season,” the senior official added.
As per the guidelines issued, it is very important to keep an alert eye at some disputed places, processions through non-traditional routes and forcible collection of donations, besides eve-teasing often trigger communal tensions. Besides, crowded markets also remain soft targets for saboteurs. Meanwhile, the centre has asked the various agencies to deploy additional forces in crowded places such as markets, railway stations, bus terminals and religious places to foil attempts by terrorists to carry out attacks.
The J&K state governments were also asked to be alert during the festivals against provocative sloganeering, especially near religious places, by subversive elements.
However, the top cop further claimed that there were no specific inputs about any plan by terrorists trying to disrupt peace anywhere in the country. While Dhanteras is celebrated in peaceful manner and Diwali and Bhai-Duj will be celebrated on Thursday and Saturday respectively.
