In an effort to enhance community engagement and to have first hand knowledge of latest local issues, a police-public meeting was held today at Village Trewa by Jammu Police.
Sh. Irshad H. Rather-JKPS,SP Headquarters Jammu accompanied by Sh. Nikhil Gogna-JKPS,SDPO RS Pura and Inspector Sh. Sunil Dutt, SHO Police Station Arnia attended the said meeting.The meeting witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents including the village former Sarpanch, Smt. Balbir Kaur and other community leaders as well as youth.
The meeting served as a platform for open dialogue between the police and the public. SP Headquarters Jammu commended the constructive role of former sarpanch Balbir Kaur & other local leaders in highlighting pressing local issues and working collaboratively with law enforcement agencies to address them.Participants highlighted issues of *traffic violations,more youth engagement programmes especially sports tournaments in border areas under Civic Action Programmes (CAP),youth recruitment in Village Defence Groups (VDGs), the need for underground cabling by the Power Development Department in border belt & combating the menace of drugs.* *Participants demanded special recruitment drive by Jammu and Kashmir Police for residents of border areas especially Arnia/RS Pura sector.Participats also demanded enhancement in the salary of VDG’s keeping their pivotal role in the security set-up in the region.*
During the meeting, the police emphasized their commitment in maintaining law and order, particularly in the sensitive border areas.Officers also highlighted the collaborative efforts of the police and other security agencies such as the Border Security Force (BSF), which have significantly enhanced security in the region.These joint efforts have not only ensured safety but have also fostered a sense of trust and cooperation among the residents.
Programmes promoting awareness about crime prevention, regular patrolling in border areas, and prompt response to grievances were acknowledged as significant steps in building public confidence. SP Headquarters urged the youth to actively participate in recruitment drives, especially notified by the government in this behalf viz. Police recruitment for constabulary and army recruitment currently going on, to contribute to the safety and development of region.He stressed on parents to keep track of activities of their children, so that they don’t fall in the trap of drugs and asked youth youth to stay away from drugs at all costs.He also stressed on promoting awareness regarding cybercrimes and mobile phone addiction.
The issue of drug abuse was discussed in detail, with the police pledging to intensify their crackdown on drug peddlers and conduct awareness campaigns in collaboration with the local residents,civil administration as well as educational institutions.
The meeting concluded with a note of appreciation for the police's efforts in ensuring security and fostering harmonious relations with the community.Participants expressed their gratitude for the proactive measures taken by the police and emphasized their willingness to support law enforcement in all endeavors.
This meeting reaffirms the commitment of the Jammu & Kashmir Police to work hand-in-hand with the public to address challenges and ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
At last SP headquarters assured the audience that all the genuine demands would be projected at appropriate platform of the government and those pertaining to police would be addressed on priority.
At last he urged the participants to make sure that tenent verification by the landlords takes place effectively.
