Directorate of Ayush J&K celebrates 9th Ayurveda Day with Great fervor
JAMMU, OCTOBER 29: To celebrate 9th Ayurveda Day, Directorate of Ayush J&K on Tuesday organized Dhanvantari Yajna in the premises of Dhanvantari Kunj at Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu.
An impressive program was organized at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium University of Jammu wherein Prime Minister’s address from All India Institute of Ayurveda was telecasted live from New Delhi.
The program was attended by more than 600 Ayurveda professionals from across the UT of Jammu Kashmir. The Prime Minister dedicated many health schemes and programs to the public on Dhanvantari Jayanti. The Prime Minister emphasized that time is opportune that Classical clinical texts of Ayurveda be made more evidence-based to make it a global science of wellness.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar was the chief guest at the event organized at University of Jammu by the Directorate of Ayush J&K.
In his address, the Divisional Commissioner congratulated the Ayurveda fraternity on Dhanvantari Jayanti and reiterated the role which Ayurveda can play in achieving the holistic well being of countrymen. He also emphasized that emerging health threats due to antimicrobial resistance and climate change can be reduced by integrating Ayurveda in the mainstream health care delivery system. He also highlighted that Ayurveda is not a health care system but an Indian way of life, our cultural heritage and it is our prime responsibility to preserve and promote it. He further said that through research based approaches we must also conserve Dogra legacy of Ayurveda and Dogra Ayurvedic Treatises and showcase the same.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Mohan Singh, Director Ayush J&K highlighted that Ayurveda is considered as the Mother of all health science. He also informed the public that 9th Ayurveda Day is being celebrated in more than 150 countries across the globe with the theme of Ayurveda Innovations for Global Health. “Ayurveda’s strengths, especially in promotion of Wellness tourism, Entrepreneurship opportunities in Ayurveda, new Therapeutic Modalities for combating emerging illnesses require to be promoted,” he added. He said that the Ayurveda fraternity needs to be more creative and innovative to globalize Ayurveda, while emphasizing on inculcating a scientific temperament to make Ayurveda a research based healthcare option. “Ayurveda can be promoted as an evidence based personalized health science,” he said and highlighted the role of digital technology in the promotion of strengths of Ayurveda and its acceptance as the mainstream system of medicine. He also appreciated Ayurveda Medical officers and paramedical staff for the various achievements of the Directorate of Ayush J&K.
Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director Ayush Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Raina, Assistant Director Ayurveda, Dr. VandanaDogra Medical Superintendent Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital, Dr. ArunaBhat Deputy Medical Superintendent GAH, Dr. BR Dubb, Authorized Officer Homoeopathic Board were also present in the program along with Medical Officers from various districts.
