New Delhi, May 13 Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte asked Mikel Arteta to focus on his own team’s performance rather than complaining a whole lot. On Thursday, May 12, the Spurs defeated 3-0 Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. During the game, Arteta lashed out after Paul Tierney, the match referee, pointed to the spot in the 22nd minute, which Harry Kane converted, and showed Rob Holding a second Yellow Card after 11 minutes. Despite the loss, Arsenal stayed at No.4, but the Spurs are only one point shy of them. After the match, the 40-year-old Arteta showed his agony and clearly said that the game wasn’t played as per the spirit of the game. "If I say what I think, I am suspended for six months. I don't know how to lie so I prefer not to say what I think... it's a shame because such a beautiful game was destroyed today," Arteta was quoted as saying. Conte lauded Arteta for performing his role as a coach with precision, but said that the Arsenal boss didn’t make proper assessment of the referee’s call. "Mikel Arteta is a really good coach. He's just started to do this job and I think that I hear him complain a lot. I think that he needs to be focused more on his team and not to complain," he stated. "The red card for me it was clear. Don't forget against Liverpool I said nothing what happened with Fabinho," Arteta said. Conte also said that Arsenal shouldn’t have got their match postponed despite only one Covid positive case in the camp. “Arsenal were good to postpone a game in an incredible way with COVID and they only had one player with COVID. I didn't forget this. If he wants to complain, we have a lot of possibilities to complain," he added.
