Jammu, Jan 9 Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Sunday said that the announcement of observing Veer Baal Diwas on December 26 by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a fitting tribute to the valour of the sons of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikh Community. He said this during the Gurpurab celebrations of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru here at Digiana Ashram. Mahant Manjit Singh was also present on the occasion. The BJP stalwart said that Prime Minister has taken the right step towards recognizing the sacrifice of the brave and righteous sons of Guru Gobind Singh. “On this darkest of days, the youngest hero and bravest comrade of Sikhism, Sahibzada Fateh Singh, who was the youngest of Guru Gobind Singh’s four sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh, his elder brother and Mata Gujar Kaur, his grandmother sacrificed their lives for their faith and the right to remain Sikhs”, he said, adding that PM Modi’s move to observe the day as Veer Baal Diwas will give an opportunity to the people of the nation to go through the difficulties which the countrymen faced under the rule of invaders and how the nation was freed from the clutches of unprincipled and barbaric rulers by the most courageous of those times. Kavinder said that this move should have been taken soon after the country attained the independence but the then governments never bothered to highlight the heroism and valour of the aboriginals and were interested in placating the foreign rulers for their vested interests. He said that the pragmatic move by the PM is a real tribute to the quest of Guru Gobind Singh and his entire family for justice and uprightness of the people of the country irrespective of their colour, caste and creed. Quoting PM Modi's tweet, The senior BJP leader said that the valour and principles of Mata Gujri, Guru Gobind Singh, and four Sahibzade give strength to millions of countrymen as the aforesaid never bowed before injustice. Earlier, while extending greetings to the people on the occasion of Gurpurab of Guru Gobind Singh, Kavinder said that people should take a cue from the life of Guru Gobind Singh as there is no one who can match the credentials of the tenth Sikh Guru, who sacrificed his entire family for the cause of Dharma and never fought for personal gains rather his every little step was for the righteousness and dignity of the people of India.
