New Delhi, Nov 22 The intelligence fusion and strategic operations (IFSO) Unit of the Delhi Police's Special Cell busted a module selling illegal weapons on social media platforms. The police apprehended a suspect, Hitesh Singh, a resident of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. During the investigation, it was revealed that he had links with anti-national elements in Pakistan via WhatsApp and social media platforms. The police were also able to uncover the modus operandi and found several leads which are being investigated. The incident came to the fore during a routine monitoring of social media. It was noticed some Facebook profiles and links had shared posts in which they were offering to sell illegal arms/weapons. They had displayed the photographs and videos of weapons and ammunition on their Facebook pages. The most prominent group out of these was a group under the name of 'Lawrence Bishnoi Group'. Since the alleged killing of gangster Jitender Gogi in a shootout at Rohini Court, the matter was treated with urgency. The matter was taken up at IFSO, Special Cell and a case under relevant sections of the law was registered. During the investigation, Facebook profiles related to Lawrence Bishnoi were searched and it was found that among friends listed on Facebook, one Hitesh Rajput aka Hirpal Singh was also offering the illegal firearms for sale, in a separate Facebook profile.
