3 held after sub-inspector hacked to death while trying to nab goat thieves in Tamil Nadu

Trichy, Nov 22 Three people have been apprehended by the police after special subinspector Bhoominathan was hacked to death while trying to nab two goat thieves in Tamil Nadu's Pudukottai district on Saturday night. The police have arrested 19-year-old Manikandan and detained two minors aged 10 and 14. The police have reportedly recovered the murder weapon and the two-wheeler used by the accused to flee the crime scene. Further investigation is underway. The deceased SSI, Bhoominathan, was attached to Navalpattu police station in the n e i g h b o u r i n g Tiruchirappalli district. He was on night patrol on Saturday when he saw two men trying to steal goats on a two-wheeler. The accused fled the spot, following which Bhoominathan had to chase them all the way to Pudukottai district, where the thieves got stranded.
