Jammu, June 15 Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta has raised serious concern over the callous attitude of the administration for harassment being caused to the PoK refugees in the name of State Subject Certificate. He has sought immediate intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha while appealing him to direct the authorities concerned to stop harassing these refugees in the name of State Subject certificate and provide them the benefits under the Laadli Beti Scheme. In a statement issued to media here today, the senior BJP leader said that he has been consistently receiving complaints from PoK refugees that they are being deprived of the benefits under the Laadli Beti Scheme as the concerned authorities are asking them to submit their State Subject certificate along with the other requisite documents failing which they would not be eligible for the benefits under the aforesaid scheme. Kavinder Gupta asserted that after the abrogation of Art 370 people like PoK refugees, Safai Karamcharis, Gorkhas and many others, who were deprived of equal rights earlier by the successive governments, have now been placed on a leveling platform along with the other people enjoying full rights. He added that this has been possible only due to the relentless efforts of the BJP led government at the Centre that finally brought the deprived categories at par with other citizens of the country and it is really an irony that these people still continue to be deprived of the rights by certain disgruntled elements in the administration by making submission of State Subject certificate a pre-requisite for availing the benefit under Laadli Beti Scheme. The former Deputy Chief Minister appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to take serious note of the sufferings of the PoK refugees in this regard and direct the authorities concerned to stop harassing them in the name of State Subject certificate and provide them the benefit of Laadli Beti Scheme at par with other citizens of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. Meanwhile, Kavinder Gupta also started the lanes and drains work estimated to cost Rs. 1.56 crore in ward 56 of Gangyal area. Addressing people on the occasion, he said that the development spree will continue 24X7 in Jammu and Kashmir under Modi regime in Centre. Among others present on the occasion were Corporator, Baldev Singh Billowria; District President, Vinay Gupta; Narender Gupta Koki, Bharat Bhushan, Mandal President and Ranjit Singh.
