Woman sacrifices six-month-old daughter to ward off 'evil spirits'

Telangana, Apr 16 On Thursday, when her partner Krishna went to Suryapet for work and his parents were at the farm, Bharathi sacrificed her daughter Ritu to God. In a horrifying incident, a mother sacrificed her sixmonth- old daughter to God to free her from "evil spirits." The gut-wrenching crime took place in the Suryapet district of Telangana. The accused mother identified as B Bharathi holds a degree in B.Sc as well as B.Ed. She was preparing for a job in the police. Around eight years back, she got married to a man from Telangana's Mahabubabad area. However, they broke up after a few days of marriage. Later, she got into a relationship with a man called Krishna. They continued their relationship and had a daughter, despite her family's objections. Bharathi had started watching a lot of spiritual videos on YouTube recently. On Thursday, when her partner Krishna went to Suryapet for work and his parents were at the farm, Bharathi sacrificed her daughter Ritu to God. After a while, Bharathi was roaming around by herself when Krishna and his parents asked the whereabouts of Ritu. After reaching home, they found Ritu dead with her throat slit. Her family members immediately approached the police. The police took Bharathi into custody and registered a case against her. Her mental state is also being probed.
