Chennai, Apr 15 Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach Simon Katich is really happy with the way Glenn Maxwell has embraced his roles at his new franchise and praised the allrounder for showing "maturity" in his batting during the match-winning knock he played against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. Maxwell, who was bought by the franchise for Rs 14.25 crore in the February auction, was one of the chief architects of RCB's 6- run win over SRH in Match 6 of the Indian Premier League 2021. He topscored with 59 runs when everybody else in his team struggled to middle the ball including captain Virat Kohli, who scored 33 off 29 balls. Maxwell's innings helped RCB reach a respectable 149 for 8 which they successfully defended by stopping SRH at 143 for 9 in 20 overs. “He’s shown a lot of maturity, particularly today (against SRH on Wednesday) when wickets were falling around him "He summed up the conditions really well, and took the game deep, that’s credit to him for his experience for summing it up and then executing right at the end when we needed some quick runs,” said Katich. Maxwell spoke about the change in his roles at RCB, which is his 4th IPL team in 10 seasons, after picking up the Player of the Match award against S R H . K a t i c h also shed light on t h i s topic, explaining the responsibilities that Maxwell has undertaken himself after coming into the team. “He’s been magnificent. He’s had a big role for us, first in the field helping Virat out there with field positioning to have the right guys in the right places at the right time. He has really embraced it,” Katich said in a video posted on their website. “He’s taken a lot of the young guys under his wing at fielding practice, worked w i t h him on that aspect of our g a m e because we know that’s an area we have to keep being good and really open up opportunities.
