New Delhi, Apr 12 Former India spinner and Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council member, Pragyan Ojha said he is impressed with newly-appointed Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, highlighting that his comment on the need for stability at the top of the order shows his maturity as a ladder. Rajasthan Royals had struggled to find the right team combination last year and it was a musical chair at the top of the order for the most part of the IPL 2020 season. Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Robin Uthappa and Ben Stokes partnered at different stages of the tournament but the Royals weren't able to crack the opening combination. It seemed as if the Royals, under Steve Smith, tried a few too many things and eventually ended up with the wooden spoon. However, Sanju Samson, speaking to the press on the eve of the Royals' opening match, said the top 3, including the openers, will get a long rope, saying the former champions will show a lot more stability in the 14th season of the tournament. "I don't mind whatever the openers you're looking for. I was listening to Sanju Samson. He said clearly that this year whoever opens or whatever line-up they decide, the top 3, they will get a long run unless there is a need for forced changes. So it shows Samson exactly knows what he has to do. And he has been doing a lot of study as soon as he became the captain. It's a good thing, a very m a t u r e d t h i n g , " P r a g y a n Ojha told Sports Today. "It's a very good statement to your team. 'Boss, whether we lose or win, first 3 or 4 games, we are not changing anything, you're the guys who are going to play'. It gives you a sense of belonging. I really appreciate it," he added.
