Y B News Jammu, Apr 12 Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market(Regd.) Jammu today has expressed great resentment against the new Excise Policy announced by the Jammu and Kashmir UT administration. Responding to the new policy the TFWHNM president Deepak Gupta during a meeting with representatives of Jammu Wine Traders Association, asserted that the new policy appears to be aimed at eliminating the small businessmen from the trade and benefiting only the rich capitalists. He said that it is quite unfortunate that before finalizing the Excise Policy 2021- 22, the apprehensions of the Wine Traders have not been cleared despite repeated protests by them in the City of Temples. He urged the government to protect and safeguard the interests of the JKEL- 2 license holders while implementing the Excise Policy 2021-22. These licenses should continue to be renewed in terms of the Jammu and Kashmir Liquor License and Sale Rules, 1984 governed by the J&K Excise Act SVT 1958. Gupta said that Policy is totally in conflict with J&K Excise act SVAT- 1958 as amended and finance department notification under SRO 679 dated 13-12-1984, as amended till date. It is not understood why normative practise is not being adopted for traders involved in liquor who has served the department with his sweat and blood and is tested ground level worker of the department for decades and has never defaulted on account of any type of dues and binding imposed by the department. The renewal is very much permissible under law but shockingly the government has not dealt with said issues which is well established policy in different states. Charanjeet Singh, Spokesman of the Jammu wine traders association on this occasion said that despite taking up the matter with the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and MOS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh regarding New Excise Policy which directly affecting the livelihood of existing wine traders of J&K, nothing has been done in this regard and today the department issued the schedule of e-auction which is very unfortunate. Munish Mahajan, Sr. Vc. President TFWHNM, Abhimanyu Gupta, Jr. Vc. President TFWHNM, Sham Lal Langer, General Secretary, Vishal Gupta, Secretary TFWHNM, Amit Gupta, Cashier TFWHNM and Digvijay Singh, Acting President Jammu Wine Traders Association were also present during the meeting.
