Four-week faculty Induction Prog commences at JU

Jammu, Feb 25 The four-week faculty Induction Programme organized by Human Resource Development centre (HRDC), University of Jammu in collaboration with the P.G. Department of Urdu, University of Jammu was inaugurated today by Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-chancellor, University of Jammu. This is the 1st kind of course which is being organized by the University of Jammu. Faculty Induction Course has been introduced by the UGC in place of orientation course making it necessary for Assistant Professor of Higher Education department. Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar threw light on the aims and objectives of this prestigious course. He stressed to organize the lectures of reputed scholars on information technology, National Education Policy, Human Rights, teaching-learning and assessment, Curriculum designing, Environmental consciousness etc. Vice-Chancellor describes the teachers of Higher Education as the pillars of the Nation. They should teach the students not only the moral values but also should make them aware of the happenings of the latest development of Science and Technology which is the need of the hour. These types of courses should be organized online also so that more participants could participate said Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar. While welcoming the participants and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rahul Gupta, Director, Human Resource Development centre (HRDC) discussed the aims and objectives of the course. He said that the Induction Programme for training Faculty & Academic Staff in Central and State Universities, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and Degree & PG Degree colleges will familiarise them in their roles as freshly inducted university teachers. It will orient them on various generic aspects of teaching-learning, instructional methodologies, assessment and evaluation techniques, ICT enabled teaching-learning, and equip them with knowledge of University rules and regulations, basics of governance and administration and the duration of the entire programme will be residential and, in order to complete all the modules, it will ideally require 170 to 175 hours, including some project work and field visits. The ideal duration of the programme will therefore be approximately 1 month (excluding Sunday and National Holidays). He further said that there are 10 Modules of the course such as Module 1: Higher Education and its Ecosystem (17 Hrs), Module 2: Curriculum designing, Outcome-based learning and Choice based credit system (20 Hrs), Module 3: Teaching, Learning and Assessment (20 Hrs), Module.
