Voters driven to cast their vote albeit COVID-19, winter’s harshness

KINSHUK SAFAYA Udhampur Dec 1 It is coming to each and everyone surprise that people of Jammu and Kashmir( in this case Udhampur) are really taking this DDC elections seriously because of the history that the state has witnessed since ages. Given the scenario that is building around the Novel Corona virus pandemic and also the rising winters, and the cool winds that come along with it, the people in the Valley and also in the Jammu belt of the Union Territory are not afraid of coming out and with prior measures, and with utmost care cast their votes hoping that some development will come their way in the times to come. A new dawn shall soon be witnessed. One that of contentment and happiness. That’s all that people actually look for and need eventually from any public servant that serves them. It was reported in Panchali That the excitement of the elections is such that water came out to cast his vote on his marriage day. If this does not give us a gist of how beautiful our democracy is, it is difficult to tell what does. People or not affected or hindered in any way by the raging pandemic that is lurking outside in the name of Corona, neither are they deterred by the harsh winter that is intensifying as the days trickle by. In the second phase of the DDC elections, 43 constituencies went on polling, 25 in Kashmir and 18 in Jammu. Election is also being held in 83 Sarpanch constituencies for which a total of 223 candidates are contesting in the phase 2. State election commissioner KK Sharma told reporters that almost all boots and Kashmir are sensitive from the security point of you. Additional security has been provided in the polling stations in the Valley. It is almost disheartening to see how certain miscreants do not want the election procedure to happen peacefully even in such a harsh condition and weather and because of which certain people have to put their lives on the lines just to manage the process peacefully and ethically. There is little doubt in everybody’s mind that even after such trying conditions people are coming out to vote and or not back down by any sort of resistance that may arise from any external factors be it Corona, harsh weather or threat to their lives. People are adamant on seeing a new dawn rise in their union territory at all costs, be it a fruit vendor or the groom that came out in Udhampur elections today to cast his memorable vote.
