GDC Kalakote celebrates World AIDS Day

Y B News Jammu, Dec 01 Red cross and Red Ribbon units of GDC Kalakote celebrated world AIDS Day on 1st Dec. 2020 on the Theme “Global Solidarity and Shared Responsibility” with the collaboration of J&K AIDS Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. The World AIDS Day was first marked in 1988 and was also the first ever international day for global health. Through online platform, the Principal of GDC Kalakote Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kr. Gupta said that “Health is a human right and health should be the prime priority of Investment to achieve universal health coverage. On the world AIDS Day let us try to find out that how to overcome COVID-19 and eliminate AIDS, the World must stand in solidarity and share responsibility. Principal of GDC Kalakote further added that there are various reasons through which person can be affected such as; it can be contracted through body fluids like blood, razor blades, and knives among other things with an infected person. There are few symptoms of the diseases that one should be aware of such as fever, Sore throat, skin rashes, Nausea, Body aches, headaches etc. The college also celebrated the day by organising Online Painting/ Mark Competition on topics like HIV AIDS, Drug Addiction Day and COVID-19 in which number of students of the college participated. All the participants were given the E-certificates. In the end of the programme, The Nodal Officer of Red Ribbon Committee of college Prof. Sachin Kumar Bhagat also spoke on the occasion that the Diseases is not entirely curable but there are quite a few protective measures that one must adopt in their everyday life to prevent the contract of the diseases.
