Army’s efforts secure admission to youth into Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya

Udhampur, Nov 30 In its endeavor to invigorate minds of youth and students in Reasi District, and to provide basic platform of education and competitive spirit among the youth, Reasi based Army unit has been organising coaching classes for admission into Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya for aspiring students of Mahore, Dharmari and Kanthan of Reasi District. Coaching classes for admission into Jawahar Navodya Vidyalayas were conducted initially with effect from 28 November 2019 to 14 March 2020 and then from 15 October to 07 November 2020. A total of 87 students attended the classes out of which 37 students passed the admission test and will be joining the prestigious Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya. Such a large number of children qualifying for the prestigious school indeed paves way for a bright future for the students, an act greatly assisted by the Indian Army. Saqib Anjum son of Akther Hussain was one of the individual who attended the classes at Dharmari. His father, Akhter Hussain is a surrendered terrorist. Akhtar Hussain was active from 1999 to 2002. He was from HM tanzeem and after four years he surrendered to the local Army unit. Post his surrender, individual got a counter for Indane Gas at Dharmari. He was contacted by Army and was persuaded to get the form of his child filled for Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya exam. Akhtar Hussain motivated his son to study for a brighter future. Saqib cleared the exams in open cat and is the first child from his native village to do so. His father now wants him to become an IAS officer after completion of his studies. Both the father-son duo were felicitated by the Indian Army by presenting them a hamper comprising a school bag, dictionary, stationary, pencil box, track suit and shoes. In addition, monetary reward for meeting expenses to attend Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya School were presented.
