New Delhi, Nov 30 Farmers protesting against the Centre's three new farm laws continued their agitation despite stiff resistance from authorities and the biting cold. The central government has appealed to the farmers to halt their 'Delhi Chalo' protest march and move to Burari ground in Delhi, the designated protest venue. The leaders of over 30 farmer groups met on Sunday to discuss the Centre's proposal. Following the meeting, farmer leaders rejected the offer and said they will discuss their demands with the central government without any conditions. One farmer leader even went to the extent of saying that the Burari ground, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked them to shift their agitation, is an "open jail". Addressing a press conference at Delhi's Singhu border on Monday, farmer leaders said they want Prime Minister Narendra Modi to listen to their "mann ki baat". The farmers were referring to the PM's monthly radio address. A representative of the agitating farmers told media outlets that their "demands are non-negotiable", adding that the ruling party "will have to pay a heavy price" if the farm laws are not withdrawn. He went on to say, "We have come here to fight a decisive battle." Gurnam Singh Chaduni, another farmer leader said during the press conference that as many as 31 cases have been registered against protesting farmers in a bid to "suppress".
