Deployment of MARCOS at Ladakh; a message to China

Young Bites. Dated: 11/30/2020 12:03:53 PM

Amidst the ongoing tensions with China, India has gone forward with a firm step to deploy the Marine Commandos of the Indian Navy, also known as the MARCOS in the chilly heights along the LAC region in Ladakh. Besides all the military development along the LAC, India has initiated many tactical strikes on China by banning more than 240 Chinese apps, barring imports from China, blacklisting numerous Chinese firms and companies from participating in Indian projects and tenders. As of the last week, 43 more Chinese apps were banned by the Government of India, given the strained relations between the two Asian giants potentially going through the worst phases after the military engagement in 1962. Although both nations have agreed to resolve the border disputes via military talks and diplomatic channels yet, nothing prominent has taken place on-ground in Ladakh. Furthermore, the situation continues to be persistent around the same row. Does this signal a potential clash or even a small scale military engagement around the Ladakh region? Or will it be resolved peacefully similar to the confrontation at Doklam in 2017. Whatsoever the case may be, the current situation at Ladakh is nothing like the one at Doklam. Claiming lives of more than 50 troops in June amidst the bloody clash at Galwan Valley in Ladakh, 20 soldiers from the Indian side and an estimated figure of 34 from the Chinese side as PLA refused to disclose the actual number of casualties, the situation at Ladakh has proved to be a bloody one for both sides. Though a potential clash or even a small engagement in the near future seems very unlikely given the nature of both nations well equipped with nuclear weapons, moreover confrontation between the two giants shall be evaded at all costs since the global ties of both countries range poles apart, it may escalate is a potential multi-nation or even a world war for its scale. With the PLA refusing to revert its unreal claims, the Indian side has decided to confront them with an iron fist, preparing well to endure the freezing chills of the everlasting harsh winter with appropriate clothing and equipment imported from the US. It comes after years of pleasing soft diplomacy towards China, India has finally realised the importance of standing mighty in front of the Chinese threat.
