National workshop on mushroom cultivation held

Jammu, Nov 29 A virtual national workshop on Mushroom Cultivation: Avenues and Challenges was jointly organized by SKUASTJammu, Govt. Degree College, Poonch and NGO Attitude Change International. The event was organized under the joint patronage of Dr. J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUASTJammu and Talat Parvez Rohella, Commissioner /Secretary, Higher Education Department, Govt. of J&K. In his inaugural address, Dr. J.P. Sharma emphasized upon the role of skill development and vocational training courses in new Education Policy. He stressed upon the youth to undergo skill development trainings in various agri-enterprises so that the youth becomes job providers rather than job seekers. He informed that SKUAST-Jammu has been nominated as the mentor institute for implementation of skill development courses. More than 400 participants from across the nation and from foreign nations like Nigeria, Malasyia and several other countries participated in the event. Expert lectures were delivered by scientists from ICAR-DMR Solan, SKUAST-Jammu and GDC Poonch. Prof. Syed Mussaraf Hussain Shah, Principal GDC Poonch welcomed the participants and hoped for further joint collaborations between SKUAST-J and GDC Poonch.
