Sanjay Manhas, State General Secretary, Congress speaks out on prevailing political scenario in Jammu and Kashmir in conversation with Pooja Thakur, Correspondent Young Bites Q. When did you joined Congress? SM: I joined Congress in 2013 and faced many ups and downs. Notwithstanding, I worked dedicatedly for the upliftment of the party in Chenab valley as well as in other parts of the Jammu and Kashmir. Q. What did you achieved by working for Congress? SM: I belong to a middle class family and there was no connection of my forefathers with politics but in all these times I have earned a lot of love and respect from the public after working hard for their welfares. When I joined Congress I had come with lot of issues pertaining to public interest and later started working on them. Q. What kind of problems you succeeded in resolving so far? SM: When I became the incharge of the Congress Seva Dal, which is the backbone of the Congress party and work at the grass root level to strengthen the party, I started raising issues of the people and succeeded in getting them resolved. There are so many issues of the people for which they use to come to me with a hope for early redressal. Q. What is your opinion on President Rule in J&K? SM: It is travesty of BJP government as they had earlier said to hold the Assembly elections with the shortest possible time but is extending President Rule after every six months. Both BJP and PDP have cheated the people of Jammu and Kashmir who gave them mandate to govern the State in 2014. Q. What is your opinion on Article 370? SM: Article 370 is a special status for which other states are fighting but we in Jammu and Kashmir have the same for which BJP is fighting abolish. It is the sick mindset of the BJP and this issue was even raised before 2014 elections, what happened next? BJP is befooling people by telling lies over Article 370. Message: Don’t support any party blindly.
