Tawi is being polluted every day

* Now people of Jammu pollute it

The sacred river Tawi, which is the life line of Jammu has become the dumping site. Its sanctity is being spoiled by the people of the city themselves. Every day people are dumping tons of garbage in the sacred river and we all wre responsible for it.
Chander Mohan Sharma, Convener, Tawi Andolan who is actively involved in the cleanliness of Tawi interacted with YoungBites said, ” It is being polluted every day. Its water was being used as a medicine to cure so many diseases, it was like Ganga jal, but not it is a poison. Unfortunately we are drinking its water. It is now a dustbin for people of Jammu. Whole city is polluting it. We pray it but we pollute it. During Navaratras we tell people not to dispose plastic in Tawi. So now people do not dispose plastic but only ‘sakh’ in Tawi”.
“Tawi Andoloan is demanding to depollute Tawi. There is no ‘sulabh shochalya’. We do ‘Aarti’ every evening on the banks of Tawi, so that yatri who come in Jammu get attracted towards it. Jammu is a heritage city so we are trying to maintain it”, he said.
So now it is the joint effort of Jammu Municipality and the people of Jammu to maintain the sanctiity of the river.
