Hundreds of vehicles stranded as Leh highway remains closed

The 396-km Srinagar Leh highway remained closed for the second consecutive day, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded on the road at Manigam bypass In Central Kashmir's Ganderbal District.
Continuous rain and fresh snow resulted in block roads at different points on the highway, leading to the stoppage of the vehicular traffic.
Despite an alert having been sounded by the district administration, hundreds of vehicles, are stuck on the leh highway since Monday evening.
The administration expects that the highway can reopen for the traffic when only weather improves
The highway was closed for traffic on Monday following the fresh snowfall and slippery road condition at Zojila Pass, Zero Point, Menimarg, Drass, and no vehicle is being allowed to ply from both sides of the highway keeping in view the safety and security of the commuters, officials said
