International Youth Day comes in the month of august every year. The primary purpose of International Youth Day (IYD) is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth. The Day recognizes the efforts of the world’s young people in enhancing the world society. Youth Day also aims to engage the young people to become more actively involved in making positive contributions to their communities. Hence International Youth Day is an opportunity for governments and others agencies to draw attention to youth issues worldwide. On Youth Day, concerts, workshops, cultural events, and meetings involving national and local government officials and youth organizations take place around the world. The United Nations created the International Youth Day, and it was first observed on 12th August of 2000. The United Nations describes the world’s youth from the age of 15 to 24 years – which makes the one-sixth of the human population. Most of the peoples between these ages were living in developing countries, and their numbers will be expected to rise steeply. The young people who gathered in Vienna, Austria for the first session of UN’s World Youth forum started the idea for International Youth Day in 1991. The conference declared the International Youth Day for fundraising and promotional purposes to support the United Nations Youth Fund in partnership with youth organizations. During the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth in 1998, a resolution proclaiming as International Youth Day was adopted. UN General assembly endorsed that recommendation in 1999 and the Youth Day was first observed on 2000. International Youth Day is dedicated to celebrating the contribution of young people to conflict prevention and transformation as well as inclusion, social justice, and sustainable peace. The theme for International Youth Day is “Youth Building Peace.” Mostly UN logo is used as a marketing and promoting material for this day. The logo features a projection of a world map centered on the North Pole, enclosed by olive branches. The olive branches represent peace, and the world map represents the people around the world. It has been highlighted in black color against a white background.
Several countries participate in those global events, which may include youth conferences on issues like education and employment. Other activities may also include concerts promoting the world’s youth, as well as various sporting events, parades and mobile exhibitions that showcase the achievements of young people’s. The discussions will be focused on four major topics: civic spaces, public spaces, digital spaces, and youth-friendly physical spaces.
Youth” is best understood as a period of transition from the dependence of childhood to adulthood's independence and an awareness of our interdependence as members of a community. People emphasised on the importance of empowering the youth and guiding them on the right path. A stall was set-up outdoors, where various organisations along with different departments from the ministry took part. They all focused on their dynamic approaches towards the development of the youth, where various youth leaders, public representatives, policy makers, academicians and students participated. As we all know, aging is inevitable. There will come a time when our responsibilities will have to be bestowed upon the next generation. The ministry will organise a special celebration on this occasion. Director of Department of Youth Affairs has prepared a busy programme on this important international occasion. All the activities held on the occasion of International Youth Day this year were prepared by young people, belonging to different races and origins.
Ministry of Culture and Sports has succeeded in achieving one of its most important goals, which is to empower young people, where the youth system currently manages youth cadres, as many of them are working in the management of youth centres. Youths have been prepared to organise and manage major events in various centres and clubs He praised the efforts made by youth centres, saying that the activities of the centres were so popular that they were overwhelmed by those wishing to register and participate, adding that the Department of Youth Affairs did everything in its capacity to accommodate as many citizens and residents as possible in the various events.
