Steps initiated to stream line mid day meal scheme

Taking a serious note of complaints regarding mis- match of Mid Deal scheme in various schools in Jammu various heads and have been excluded from the mid day meal scheme. Various complaints were received regarding mismanagement on the automated reporting and management system portal and consequently decision was taken.
It is worthwhile to mention here that ARMS developed for MDM by Himachal Pradesh NIC was launched in J&K State in the month of December 2017 to do real time monitoring of the Scheme. In this portal, every school has to send daily message indicating number of meals served in the school which will help in effective monitoring of the scheme. With an objective to strengthen the Mid Day Meal cells, the ZEO's were directed to rationalize their staff and put dedicated officials in their respective offices for monitoring of the scheme.
Under the system, the data collected by the education department is to be put on the national portal. The principals, headmasters and teachers in charge of the midday meal at the school level can send data on a daily basis on the number of children being served the meal in schools
Taking a serious note of the reports the Directorate of School Education, Jammu, had directed all Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of the Jammu region to ensure that complete charge of the scheme was given to other masters and teachers, preferably male, and action taken in this regard be furnished to the Directorate office by the second week of August
Further it was asked that CEOs will ensure that the in charge, midday meal, at the zonal level will complete the uploading of monthly data onto the portal developed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development by the 10th of the succeeding month failing which the salary of the official concerned will be withheld until he/she completes the assignment.
