VS: Despite serving in the education department for years, why you opt to become a social worker?
CR: This is very right that I served in the education department for years, due to daily interaction with the poor kids, I was really very inspired with them and finally decided that after the retirement I will serve the people and joined this society as a member.
VS: Mr Chet Ram ji, tells us about the society, which is providing its services to the pilgrims as well as the people on national Highway?
CR: Our society, Mahadev Sewa Samiti, is registered at New Delhi and is providing free of cost services to the thousands of pilgrims of Shri Amarnath as well as the people who feel hungry during their journey or while travelling on the National Highway near Kithat Chenani, in Udhampur district.
VS: Since when you are providing your langar facilities for the pilgrims of Shri Amarnath ji?
CR: We have been installing our langar facilities for the pilgrims on the national Highway from last more than 12 years and this is our 13rd Vishal Bhandara, which was started since 27th June and will continue till the Mahadev will support us.
VS: What type of facilities you are providing to the pilgrims?
CR: We are providing free food , free medical facilities as well as the lodging facilities to the pilgrims in our camps, for their safety, the government has installed a post of army, who are providing full security to the pilgrims, especially in the night hours.
VS: What is the specialty about the food stuff provided in your bhandara?
CR: We are providing healthy and hygienic food to the pilgrims, so that they can feel relaxed during their onward journey towards the holy shrine of Shri Amarnath ji.
We are serving the food as per the requirements of our pilgrims, who are visiting in our bhandara since more than 10 years. We are taking care of the devotees as well as the people who used to travel on the National Highway for the various routine works. We are providing them the food for the 24 hours.
